Wirral Photo 08: Our project to provide photographic help to community groups & voluntary organisations for publicity purposes plus record some of the many events in Wirral during 2008 as our contribution to Liverpool's Capital of Culture year but with a Wirral perspective. From 28th March to 7th June,09 - "Secret Gardens Exposed" at The Williamson Art Gallery, Birkenhead. This results from our collaboration with the organisers The Oxton Society and the resulting extensive photographic coverage of one of the major Wirral events in 08 - "The Secret Gardens of Oxton" From 11th July - 6th September,09 we are mounting our retrospective exhibition of the year entitled "Wirral Photo 08" also to be held at The Williamson Art Gallery in Birkenhead. This will be a mixture of framed photographs plus digital slide shows. Ultimately we will pass on the exhibition photographs to Wirral Museum as a historical record, perhaps it be shown to our grand children one day!. To help with this project we have received considerable help from the staff of Wirral Borough Council and been pleased to be awarded grants under their "Wirral 08 Culture for All " scheme. Why: We wanted to make long term contacts with local organisations to open up photographic opportunities for our members and in return provide good quality photographic coverage of events etc. In particular we have helped with publicity & coverage etc. for charitable events so that they become more successful either this year or in the future and thus everyone benefits. ** We must point out that have no intention of doing work normally covered by local professional photographers. |
